Legends Day 2011 - Highlights of a successful day |
|
Saturday, 09 July 2011 22:43 |
|
Rupertswood Football Club took a huge step forward in its history and development.
The 2011 Legends day has been acclaimed by all those involved and present as nothing short of a huge success. Various highlights and images will be added to the website over the coming days, so keep an eye out for further developments.
There were two games played in glorious winter sunshine and both were keenly contested, but played in great spirit.
Congratulations to everyone involved in the organisation of the day. The club is now already looking at how to make next year bigger and better, and are also looking for some volunteers to help continue the tradtion we believe we have started. So in the words of our immortal inaugral Legendary coach - Gary Plummer - "Who's up for it?"

Speaking of the legendary coach - Gary "John Kennedy" Plummer - for those who were not privileged to hear his ROUSING YET SOMEWHAT CONFUSING pre match address click here.
For a pictorial view of the day (Including training, selections & jumper presentations), in no particular order, check out our photo slide show. |

Teams for Rupo's inaugral Legends day were announced after an extensive and exhaustive training session under the watchful eye of club legend, life member and legend team coach - Gary Plummer.
Due to the interest in this event we intend to play 2 games. Flexibility and patience will be a couple of key qualities we ask eveyone to have in thier kit bag, as we may need to make some changes to teams and/or the format of the day. As it stands for now, we're asking all participants to arrive at 12.00pm to prepare for the day. The canteen, barrista, bar and merchandise will all be open for trade at 12 noon.
WE STILL NEED ABOUT 6-8 PLAYERS, BECAUSE AS YOU WILL SEE FROM TEAMS BELOW, INTERCHANGE ROTATIONS WILL BE FEW & FAR BETWEEN, SO ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A GAME THAT ISN'T ALREADY SELECTED, JUST TURN UP ON SATURDAY AT 12.00PM, REMEMBERING IT'S $25.00 PLAYING FEE.
All players will be asked to read and sign a waiver, due to the lack of insurance for the day as it is not an "official" game.
The teams/squads for the day are: (in no particular position)
Legends vs Rupo Dads : click here to open a pdf. (easier than trying to list here). 2.30pm start.
Couldabeens vs Shouldabeens :click here to open a pdf (easier than trying to list here). 1.00pm start. |

Mums & Dads & ..............? |

The Junior Division of the club, along with members from our sister clubs of the netball and cricket varieties, kicked their heels up and along the way even managed to answer some trivia questions, but the night was marred by 3 trivia crashers! Security on the entrance was extremely slack and 3 undesirables were allowed to infiltrate proceedings. How on earth did Batman, Buzz Lightyear and Glee join the party? We definitely need to beef up security!!!

The club also presented also presented Mark Caldone with the 2010 Junior Best Club Person trophy. Congratulations Mark!
The "trivia crashers" did however set the tone for the evening and a great deal of fun was shared by all! Congratulations to the organising committee. |
