Blood Oath Campaign
Friday, 01 July 2011 09:58

Don't think "It won't happen to me", coz the tragic death of Tyler Coles proves that it can and does happen to us!

The AFL in conjunction with one of the major partners The TAC are launching a program which will hopefully help reduce road trauma among 16-25 year olds. Having just lost one our team mates under these circumstances and realising that the statistics that the police, government agencies and politicians refer to actually relate to real people and they do have family, they do have friends, they do have TEAM MATES! This is a message that should be hitiing all our senior playing group right between the eyes, and we would expect that every Senior & Under 18 player will register for. There is a great prize on offer too - 2 tickets to the AFL Grand Final for you and a mate. In order to win the prize you must regsiter by 31/7. But prizes aside, losing a team mate and friend in the circumstances we have, should leave you in no doubt about what is the right and smart thing to do.

As a tribute to Tyler, we urge all Senior & Under 18 players, as a mark of respect, to participate in this program. Take 10 minutes to read through the information linked below...... it may just may make you think twice and potentially save your life!

PLEASE DON'T BECOME ANOTHER STATISTIC!

Defib Your Club for Life Launch
Tuesday, 21 June 2011 16:53

On Saturday 28th May, we hosted a luncheon to mark the 1st anniversary of passing of Rupo player, mate and friend Stephen "Bucky" Buckman. Along with some very moving speakers and presentations, an important part of the day was the official launch of the Defib Your Club for Life (In memory of Stephen Buckman) campaign.

Defib Your Club for Life (DYCFL) is a not for profit organisation which has been formed by club member Andrew White and Steve's mum Sue, with the help of others wanting to volunteer their time and/or services.

At the luncheon, over $150,000, the equivalent of 63 defibrilators was donated to DYCFL, which is a huge kick start for the organisations initial goal of having at least 1 defibrilator in every football club in Victoria.

You will soon be able to make donations (usual tax deductibility will apply), we will keep you informed when you will be able to do so. In the meantime, if you are part of a company that you think would like to be involved as a sponsor of the campaign, please visit their website from the link below.

For a more details and images of the day and further information we invite you to visit the Defib Your Club for Life website.

Present & Future Champs
Thursday, 05 May 2011 14:59

Our club boasts a proud fact of being one club incorporating a total of 18 teams fro age 7 to 40(ish) and an Auskick clinic which boasts about 130 future champs.

Whilst each section of the club is extremely busy with their own football preparations and issues surrounding getting things happening, we do try to ensure that everyone feels they belong to ONE CLUB! This is not always an easy thing to accomplish.

Last weekend our junior and senior players got together for a bit of serious practice, some serious involvement in each others turf.

On Friday, senior players Leigh and Ben Brennan, Justin Phillips and club captain David Collins gave of their time to help our Under 12s with their skills at training.

Then on Saturday, 4 of our Under 12 players were selected to be involved in the Seniors pre-match routine, including being in the rooms, taking part in the warm up and being right in the inner sanctum in the pre-match huddle and address from the skipper. In fact, one of the boys was so fired up during the warm up, he asked "Can we play with you?" The junior players were also invited to sing the club song in the "circle", should the seniors win, but they unfortunately were unable to hang around till that time. IT HAD BEEN A LONG DAY FOR THEM.

It was a special time for the junior and senior players alike. These will be a regular feature for our junior and senior arms into the future, and we hope that all members get behind this initiative!
